Pay it forward day at Channing McKinley Chiropractic

My wife has a chiropractic practice, Channing McKinley Chiropractic, and today she did something pretty amazing – a "pay it forward" day.

Here's what she did – instead of charging people her usual fee for visits, she printed up cards that said something along the lines of

Pay it Forward —->
Use the money that you would have spent on today's visit
to pay it forward. Give it an organization
that does work that's important to you.

on other cards, she proposed an edgier practice – forgiveness. These cards had the text above, but also said

Forgive. I believe the world needs more forgiveness
so Pay it Forward – forgive someone or
forgive yourself

In the brief conversation we had about it at the dinner table with our kids, she said it was a really wonderful day. Everyone she treated today thanked her. A few teared up, and one started crying outright, saying that it was exactly what she'd needed. Another smiled, saying s/he knew exactly what she was going to do with the money, and one said that her company had a matching donation policy, and that the money she was going to donate would be doubled by their policy.

All in all, it sounded like she had a great day, and it seemed like such a wonderful practice that I couldn't help but share it here.

I'm going to ask her if I can interview her about it and write it up, and if so, I'll share that interview here as well, but even if we don't do that – what a great way to practice generosity and to encourage people to put more generosity and forgiveness into the world. I'm thrilled that it was such a positive experience, and I'm looking forward to seeing if she chooses to make it a regular occurrence in her practice.
